Domains – how they work
Frequently asked questions about domain names
What do all these technical terms?
A domain name consists of three parts: subdomain, domain and TLD. If we take www.binero.se so is www subdomain, Netfirms a domain, and .com top-level domain.
DNS translates domain names (human-readable URLs) to IP addresses (addresses that computers can read), eg www.binero.se -> 184.108.40.206.
Whois is a database of information about domain names and their owners.
Who is the owner of domain names registered with you?
We always indicates our customers as the owner of the domain names. For technical reasons, we need to stand as administrative, technical-or billing contact.
Which TLDs you offer registrations for?
Today we offer registrations of domain names under TLDs .com, .nu, .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .me, .mobi and .eu (note that .me and .mobi only available in our 2.0 systems; customers with customer number starting at 1). We also plan to expand the number of TLDs. If you have a domain name registered under a different TLD, we can usually still manage the domain name for you.
What is included if you just register a domain name?
If you only register a domain name through us, you get free access to our domain services, including our global AnycastDNS network that provides greater security and stability. More information is available here: Domain Services
